The Accidental Further Adventure of The 100 Year Old Man

If you a big fan of Allan Karlsson, you must be thrilled to know that there is an accidental further adventure of his!

Allan was in Bali, Indonesia when his 101 year old birthday became an accident when the hot air balloon that was supposed to be part of his "in debt" celebration flew him and his friend, Julius Johnsson -the asparagus farmer, away. Julius was frantic but all Allan did was drinking the wines when they finally ended up in the middle of Indian Ocean. They were destined to be found by North Korean ship which the captain was getting suspicious that these two old men were spies. As laid back as Allan was always be, he talked so much that the captain became so annoyed. But what Allan said about his knowledge of nuclear weapon and uranium made the captain in state of suspicious but seeing him as a precious hostage. Everything starts from Bali, North Korea, and who might know what other countries he might ended up to visit more...

For those who know the first book of this a hundred year old man story, you must know how crazy and irrelevant his behaviour is. Although surprisingly, Jonas Jonasson's first story of Allan which took place in WWII era was an ultimate laughing machine. It's a bit unfortunate that the second book only got me some snorts and silent chuckles. It's nice that as we're living in present days, the story becomes more relatable as it takes place in nowadays political situations. Yet I feel that Allan's prime story is a bit snatched away by Johnsson and his new girlfriend's story. His adventure is also as not whimsical as his previous one. It's just a little bit disappointing because I really expect to spout some saliva to the book due to excessive laughter.
