Adults know so they amend

First time I set my life free from the formal education system, I was lost. Thousand times the same question struck me, "now what?" I was hanging on a thin and fragile hope, thinking where would it lead me.

Apparently, that's how being an adult. You complicate things. You complicate your options, your relationship, your decision and basically everything life throws at you. One of all, being an adult means loneliness. No matter how fancy the party is, how big your social circle, how lovely your boyfriend or husband is, there must be times you feel like, shoot I'm so freaking lonely and no one understands me.

I spend a good time of my life by watching movies. This mundane activity is a dear friend of mine whenever that inevitable question knocking on my head again. Now, I just realize how adults (re: authors) use their time to make a storyline that they wish to have on their own real life.

Taking a good example from some of good movies and tv series below, and I'll explain why it all makes sense to me now.

Just like Christopher Robin with Pooh in his childhood time, Naruto with Kurama, Nobita with Doraemon and Kaoru with Rilakkuma, adults need friends. A friend that makes everything seems easy, who's always be there, who's somehow innocent but always listens to you and is loyal.

Winnie The Pooh (Christopher Robin)
"Doing nothing often leads to the very best kind of something" -Pooh

When Christopher Robin gets older and has his own family, he is caught up with adult things that called as 'work'. He is stressful, he faces a lot of problems and puts his family at stake. And there's Pooh, his childhood friend, comes back to his life and solves his problems with his simple thinking. She doesn't even need to try. Sometimes, we adults should stop overthink. Because most of the time the answer is right under our noses.

Naruto (Naruto Shippuden)
You have changed me a lot, Naruto -Kurama
Kurama sticks with Naruto through thick and thin. He lives inside of him and grows stronger from Naruto's hatred until Naruto makes peace with him. Then, he becomes Naruto's strength. He is always be there for Naruto, saves him and believes in him. Isn't that what adults need? A 24/7 support system that you actually never find in another human being. The ugly truth is people are also caught up with their own problems and struggles. No one bothers to be there for you the whole time. That's why Kurama is very special for Naruto.

Doraemon (Doraemon Stand by Me)
Cherish your time with him -Nobita
Who doesn't love Doraemon? A kind-hearted robot from the future who saves Nobita's childhood life. He's practically the pilar of Nobita's life and changes his future. Nobita is bullied by his friends because of his dumbness and weakness, but there's always Doraemon who yells at him but also helps him at the same time. Adults need that person who backs you up everytime life throws rock at you. They need a person who can shield you from feeling sad and desperate. Nobita is given Doraemon by Fujiko F. Fujio, I believe the author knows how hard it is to live this life alone.

Rilakkuma and Kaoru
Nothing in life can stay the same way forever -Kaoru
Kaoru, a Japanese worker, spends her life like how adults are supposed to live. One time, she is stood up by a group of her close friends because they are busy with their own lives. She is alone at the park, feels angry and sad at the same time. But then, when she gets back home without covering her disappointment, Rilakkuma, Korilakkuma and Kiiroitori pull her outside and take her into picnic outside their home. There are times when adults just want to have fun but no matter how they look at it, no one is there. It must be really nice to have Rilakkuma when you often feel lonely.

The Little Prince
Grown-ups never understand anything by themselves, and it is tiresome for children to be always and forever explaining things to them -The Little Prince

This won't be the last but like I said in the beginning of this post. Adults tend to complicate things. If you read carefully what The Little Prince said, things are easy to understand. Why do we make it hard? Sometimes, it's better to see things in the way children see it. By doing that, we can get rid of the doubts, guilts, disappointments, and worries.

I love how these authors and screenwriters try to amend what we actually don't have in real life. That's why it's called fiction. However, real life is full of surprised events. Although we don't have Pooh, Kurama, Doraemon, Rilakkuma and we cannot simplify things just like The Little Prince, I wish we always remember we were once children, too.
Being an adult doesn't mean you cannot be a child again, you always can whenever wherever. Then wake up again and face the fact that we are adult. But keep that little child inside of you forever. It might save your adult life, perhaps in million times.
